Covid -19 Update

We want to reassure customers that as a business we are following all government advice to keep our staff, delivery partners and customers safe. Our team have responded impressively to the changes to their working world and we are dispatching orders as usual while also introducing increased hygiene systems across the business.  With most of our team working from home we are able to maintain safe social distancing for those required on site to dispatch orders.  Below are answers to some questions you may have, but please get in touch if you have any others.

  • Are you still taking customer service enquiries?

Of course, hearing from our lovely customers is what keeps us going through these difficult times. We have team members working from home to answer your calls and emails and they will be happy to answer any queries you have. As with many around the world, we have all had to adjust our working day to accommodate other family responsibilities so please leave a message if your call is not answered straight away and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Will my order still be dispatched?

Yes, we are dispatching orders as quickly as possible so if you order before midday on a weekday, we will usually dispatch the same day.

  • Are there delays with deliveries?

Currently orders are being delivered within one or two days. It is possible that there may be a small delay in areas where your local courier is experiencing very high levels of deliveries or have a driver shortage.  You will receive a notification to keep you updated on the progress of your delivery.

  • Do you have non-contact deliveries in place and is it safe to receive a delivery?

Yes, the majority of our letterboxes are delivered by DPD local who have introduced non-contact deliveries.  Delivery drivers will deliver your parcel to your doorstep or requested safe place and will take photo evidence of delivery instead of requiring a signature. Smaller items may be sent with Royal Mail who also have similar non-contact services in place. Larger pallet deliveries will be delivered kerbside and will also obtain photo delivery evidence in place of a signature. If you are placing a large order that will require a pallet delivery, you will need to ensure that someone will be on site to receive the delivery as, in an effort to keep journeys to a minimum, logistics companies are not able to return to re-attempt failed deliveries.

There is very little risk involved in receiving a delivery, you can read more regarding safe deliveries here.

  • I’m self-isolating, can I still get a delivery?

Of course. You can request that you delivery is left in a safe place on your property or as our courier is operating a non-contact delivery, there is no need for you to leave your house while the delivery is taking place at your doorstep.

  • The item I am interested in is out of stock, will there be a delay in more stock arriving during the Covid 19 situation?

It is possible that some stock replenishment will be delayed as some of our suppliers have had to close during this time. However, we are still receiving some stock so there may be a suitable alternative that we can recommend.  If you let us know we can also get in touch to let you know as soon as we have a stock delivery.

  • Have you made any changes to your return policy during this time?

As we are aware that some people may find it difficult organise a return, and we want to make sure you have one less thing to worry about, we have extended our return period from 30 days to 60 days.  Make sure to keep your item safe so that it remains in good condition until you are ready to return it.  You may find it easier to arrange a collection with a courier company who will be able to make a non-contact collection from your home. There are several comparison sites for courier services online that will tell you which couriers offer this service for your area.

This has been a difficult time to navigate for any business and we are very proud of all our team for dealing with the many changes brilliantly.  This has meant different things for each team member and we look forward to the day we can all be back in our fun office environment, but for now we remain positive about the way we are able to continue to help our customers and be part of a fantastic business even during unusual times.  If you would like to hear more from our company director, you might like to read his post from earlier in the lockdown when times were a little more uncertain.

And always look on the bright side of life...
Dear Friends

The impact of this current coronavirus on the lives of people in the UK is now clear. I hope that you, your family and your friends stay safe and well.

I’ve been living in your beautiful country for over 15 years now and I feel right at home here. I learned about your history a long time before that, when I was at university studying World’s History. I know that you had some difficult moments in your past, just the same as my country of birth- Poland. Both our nations have a lot in common, perhaps that is why it was so easy for me to adopt the UK as my new homeland.

Through all these difficult moments, you’ve always showed resilience and perseverance mixed with a unique sense of humour showing the world how to keep calm and carry on!

The situation we are facing is not easy and the decisions we all have to make are not easy either. Earlier on we decided that most of our Letterbox4you team would work from home if possible. We intended to continue running our warehouse operations to be able to accept and dispatch orders and deliveries. However, we feel that we have reached the point where we need to do our little bit to keep our employees, customers, contractors and many other people safe and give a fighting chance to the NHS staff who are combating the virus at present. It is clear to see that it cannot be achieved without ceasing most of our activities and keeping the necessary ones to the minimum. We all need to contribute to try to break as many links in the chain of the virus spreading.

We will be stopping all our warehouse and office operations, initially for a week starting on Friday the 27th and make further decision later based purely on the greater good of our families, friends and communities. We will keep our communication channels open where possible and our staff members working from home will provide the best assistance possible in the circumstances.

I would like to thank you all for your continuous support and finish with the lyrics of one of my favourite songs from Monty Python’s “Life of Brian”:

“…Some things in life are bad They can really make you mad Other things just make you swear and curse When you’re chewing on life’s gristle Don’t grumble, give a whistle And this’ll help things turn out for the best And always look on the bright side of life Always look on the light side of life…”

Kind Regards

Dominic
