With a wide range of colours, styles and sizes, we aim to make it easy for you to select a post box that matches the character of your home. However, this isn’t the only way to personalise post boxes. We also supply letters and numbers, for you to add your house details or family name.
Why Personalise Your Post Box?
Adding your name or number to a post box is usual for residents of apartments, offices and other multi-occupancy buildings. In these properties, a block of post boxes is centrally located and all look the same. In these instances, personalisation helps the postman locate the right recipient and you can go straight to the right box to unlock and see what’s been delivered.
In addition, numbers and letters are often requested for gate post boxes. These are installed through the gate or fence on the perimeter of a property. From here, the house number on the front door isn’t always visible, so the information ensures that letters or parcels go to the intended addressee.
Across Europe, post boxes often include the family name. Although it isn’t a legal requirement, it is common practice. So, when people move to the UK, they might choose to personalise with their surname. In other cases, customers use a house number on the letterbox in place of a plaque or door number. Your Post Box Letter & Number Options
Some post boxes include a clear Perspex section. These offer the opportunity to print family, house or business name and slide it in place. You can see what we mean if you look at the SD5 Wall Mounted Post Box or the Bjorn- designer parcel box. This is an easy option, however, you have limited space, so the text has to be small.
Another option is vinyl numbers and/or letters. These firmly adhere to the post box and are weather-resistant. When you order post boxes for home from us, you can select up to 3 numbers or 30 letters. The numbers are supplied as 5cm or 10cm high characters, while letters are 1.5cm in height. You also get the choice of typeface, as well as black, white, light grey, gold or silver vinyl.
When it comes to letterboxes for apartments, all letters and numbers are 1.5cm and the maximum is 8 characters. That’s simply because you can’t fit more onto the box! We also offer adhesive, powder coated metal letters and numbers, with a 3D finish. They are 3cm in height and 0.5cm thick and can be ordered in a graphite or silver finish. How to Apply Characters to Personalise Post Boxes
When you receive your order, your requested vinyl characters will be packaged with your box. Follow these three steps to personalise your post box:
- Clean – Before you apply, wipe down the area of the box where the letters or numbers will be applied to ensure it is clean, dust-free and dry.
- Prepare – The letters are supplied with a sheet of gridded transfer tape. Remove the backing and stick this over the characters, using the lines to keep everything straight. The letter will stick to the transfer tape, which you can now place onto the post box.
- Stick – When you are happy with the position, rub down with a cloth to encourage the letters to stick firmly to the box. Then, slowly peel off the transfer tape. If any letters lift away, push the transfer tape back over and rub.
For 3D letters, simply follow the Clean instructions and then stick them in place.
