Christmas is one time of year when we can hope to receive something more exciting than a bill or circular through the letterbox. Despite social posts, e-cards and text, there’s still a tradition of sending Christmas cards and gifts. So, let’s explore the essentials of Christmas deliveries.
Letters to Santa
The priority for many youngsters at this time of year is informing Santa of their present wish list. Some may even feel the need to convince Father Christmas and the elves that they have been good! Your children may have the opportunity to write and deliver a letter at school. If not, we’d like to share the official address for that all-important mail:
Father Christmas
Santa’s Grotto
Reindeerland
XM4 5HQ
Keep a lookout, as they may even receive a reply through the letterbox.
Getting International Mail Through the Letterbox on Time
Are you sending Christmas cards and gifts to friends and family overseas? If so, there isn’t long before you need to send, so set aside time to compose your message.
For letters, packages and parcels heading to Africa, Asia, Australasia and South or Central America, Royal Mail’s International Standard deadline is Tuesday 3 December.
Wednesday 4 December is the final posting date for Cyprus, Malta, Portugal & Spain. For the majority of Europe, it’s the following day.
However, you have until Friday 6th December to reach contacts in Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Italy, Poland, Sweden and the USA.
When Can We Expect Deliveries Through the Letterbox?
Royal Mail services are following normal delivery schedules through December. The exceptions are Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, when no deliveries will be made.
For UK services, the final delivery day for Second Class postage is Wednesday 18th December. If you miss that, send First Class or Tracked 48 before Friday 20th December. The cut-off for Tracked 24 mail is Saturday 21 December and after that Special Delivery Guaranteed on Monday 23 December is the only option.
Online Shopping Dates & Gift Ideas
We know that some of you like to leave things until the last minute. That can include ordering gifts online. However, be aware that all courier companies are operating at full capacity in December. So, get ahead of the game with your online shopping if you want gifts to arrive through the letterbox in time.
