I liked the look of the box - a no messing about, clean lines, just the size for magazines and mail.
I added a tiny micro switch near the hinge on the flap closure mechanism and another one on the inside of the security baffle triggered by the door opening. Both these are open circuit with door and flap closed.
With some Arduino programming and an ATtiny402 plus an HM-10 Bluetooth modem, I get an alert when new mail has arrived - opening the box automatically clears the new mail indicator.
It's a metal box and, against all I learned at school about Faraday cages, the RF manages to sneak out and make it through a double skin brick wall to the receiver in the house.
So as not to spoil the aesthetic, (I was going to glue a solar panel onto it but my wife said 'No') the letter box transmitter is battery powered - measured quiescent current is 0.5uA at 4.2v so unless I start receiving loads of mail, it should last months between recharges. Oh - if it thinks it's getting low on charge, this is also alerted into the house when the unit is triggered by mail.

This secure letterbox did what it said on the tin. Thick steel construction, good lock, weather proof flap and internal shield to prevent people reaching in for mail. Internal corner flange to improve rigidity. Easily mounted to wall.

the letterbox is great & looks to be as safe (antitheft) as can be, but the screws supplied were in my opinion not fit for purpose. I also think the top should be slightly sloping forward as we have rain water stood on it. We also paid extra postage for next day delivery, but we were just too late in the day with our order to qualify for next day, but although you kept the extra postage cost that we paid with our order on 3-8-23 the box didn't arrive until 7-8-23?
